Hi ATD San Diego,

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer here in San Diego or wherever life has taken you. It’s hard for me to believe that it has been 18 years since I left Massachusetts to relocate to San Diego. Sometimes it seems like yesterday. Time goes by so quickly!

This month I want to update you on the strategic planning session the Board held in July. I am happy to report that in less than two hours, we were able to agree on a vision and mission statement, and we made good progress on a set of chapter values. Once finalized, our chapter website will be updated and programs and workshops that align with our mission and values will be identified and scheduled.

In addition to this work, we need the input of our members to help us provide the best possible programs. We have updated our annual member survey and encourage all to participate. The survey will be open through August 24.

I also had the opportunity to sit in on the first group meeting of the Mentor-Protégé Program. It was great to hear the protégés’ goals and how much progress is being made already. This is a great program! I have been a mentor many times and have always learned so much from my protégés and others in the group. Hopefully the same is true with them. 

As we head into August, I am looking forward to working with our programs directors to get chapter meetings and workshops on our calendar.

I have had so many chapter members offer their support to me as President. Thanks to all! I know I am part of an extraordinary group.
